To help the 2026 cohort of international degree students quickly familiarize themselves with the campus environment, learn university rules and regulations, establish awareness of safety and the rule of law, and embark smoothly on their academic journey at HIT, the Opening Ceremony and Orientation for 2026 International Students, College of International Education, Harbin Institute of Technology, was held in the auditorium on the third floor of the Main Building on the morning of September 15. The conference was presided over by Li Yongqi, coordinator of the College of International Education, and all 2026 international new students attended the event.

The conference kicked off with a wonderful group choral performance of I Believe. Afterwards, a promotional video of Harbin Institute of Technology was screened, introducing the international freshmen to HIT’s century-old educational heritage, research strength and campus features.

Vice Dean Zhao Wen, on behalf of the CIE, extended a warm welcome to the new students from all over the world. She briefly introduced the College’s development overview and characteristics of talent cultivation, encouraging all new international students to cherish their study opportunities at HIT, delve deeply into their majors, engage in active communication, enhance their capabilities through cross-cultural exchanges, and tell good stories about China.
机电工程学院硕士研究生西蒙作为新生代表上台发言。他分享了自己选择哈工大的初心，表达了对未来科研学习生活的憧憬，承诺将严于律己、勤奋钻研，积极融入校园，与各国同学互相学习、共同进步。
Simon, a master’s student from the School of Mechatronics Engineering, delivered a speech as the representative of new students. He shared his motivations for choosing HIT, expressed his expectations for future research and studies, and pledged to be self-disciplined and diligent in academic exploration. He also mentioned that he would actively integrate into campus life, learn from peers of all nationalities and make progress together.

Lu Jingjing, Director of the International Education Management Department of CIE, delivered a special presentation on school rules and disciplines for all new international students. She elaborated on important regulations concerning international students’ orientation to HIT, daily administration and campus codes of conduct, clarified requirements for academic and campus life, and guided new students to abide by university rules and standardize their behaviors.
哈尔滨市公安局南岗分局出入境管理大队警官钟震宇开展涉外法律专题宣讲。针对外国人在华居留、签证办理、出入境管理、涉外法律法规等重点内容进行讲解，提醒同学们提高法律意识，按时办理居留许可，自觉遵守中国法律。
A police officer Zhong Zhenyu from the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of the Nangang Branch, Harbin Public Security Bureau, delivered a special lecture on foreign-related laws. He explained key topics including foreigners' residence in China, visa application, entry-exit administration and relevant foreign-related laws and regulations. He reminded students to raise their legal awareness, apply for residence permits on time, and abide by Chinese laws.
哈工大保卫处王东老师作校园安全教育报告。他围绕校园消防安全、财产安全、出行安全、突发事件应急处置等方面开展安全教育，重点强调校园禁止非法宗教活动、禁止宗教宣传与宗教聚集等管理规定，引导国际新生严守校园纪律、树立安全防范意识，自觉规避各类安全隐患，共同建设平安、有序、和谐的校园环境。
Wang Dong from the HIT Security Office delivered a campus safety education report. He gave a detailed explanation of campus fire safety, property safety, travel safety, and emergency response procedures. He also emphasized the campus regulations that illegal religious activities, religious propaganda and religious gatherings are strictly prohibited on campus. He urged all international students to strengthen their safety awareness, prevent potential risks, and jointly maintain a safe, orderly and harmonious campus environment.

The new student welcome ceremony and orientation conference serves not only as a warm welcome event, but also as a comprehensive compulsory introductory lesson for new students.
